3-7 PM Saturday, September 12, 2009

LOS ANGELES, CA – iNDIGO PROjECT, a multimedia production company that produces non-fiction stories to entertain and inspire progress within local and global communities, has partnered with CHALK4PEACE, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit and the Mid-City West Community Council, to create peace on the streets in the heart of Los Angeles. Please come out to the CHALK4PEACE event located at Bank of America on La Brea and Rosewood from 3 - 7 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2009.

CHALK4PEACE, a worldwide chalk art project now in its fourth year, puts chalk into the eager hands of children, and encourages them to express their thoughts on the theme of peace. Every September, across five continents and in over a hundred locations, each event invites all kids at heart to use their imagination to creatively convey the vision for a more peaceful planet. The Washington DC Commission for the Arts and Humanities commends the CHALK4PEACE project, which has been met with enthusiastic approval from many young artists who now look forward to doodling on pavements for all to see.

The event will include a Lemonade Shaved Ice and Snow Cone Stand hosted by Penmen Elite with donations benefiting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation that seeks to find cures for cancer in children. And if you’re cleaning out your closet this summer, bring your shoes, clothing, and books that will go towards Helping Others Worldwide foundation, who will ship the items to needy orphanages in Sierra Leone, Africa. We will be entertaining all young chalkers with special live musical guests; including Drake Bell, The Deserters, Dirty Mercy and more.  Yoga by Gurutej will be offered to give you a peaceful relaxation.  The Green Truck will be parked by the event if you get hungry.  Water, chalk, treats and fun, fun, fun will be provided!

Arrive to the Miracle Mile Art Walk by Metro or DASH, and visit the participating galleries via the Holly Trolley, which runs the neighborhood starting at 4PM at La Brea and 1st Street for free! The night will continue on with some rocking after parties at various galleries providing free food, drinks, live music and Djs.

PENMEN ELITE IN ASSOCIATION WITH iNDIGO PROjECT

WILL HOST LEMONADE SHAVED ICE & SNOW CONE STAND

IN LOS ANGELES

iNDIGO PROjECT and PENMEN ELITE are partnering up to shave some ice for a day in order to raise awareness for the battle against childhood cancer. Lemonade Shaved Ice and Snow Cones will be provided to all participating sidewalk chalkers at the CHALK4PEACE event held at the Miracle Mile Art Walk. Children will be cooling off with sweet ice treats and will draw on the theme of peace on Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 3 – 7pm in the Bank of America parking lot, located at 466 N. La Brea Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90036.

Inspired by the story of Alexandra “Alex” Scott and her mission to fight for the lives of children suffering from cancer, we knew a Lemonade Stand would be a perfect addition to our summer day chalk art project.  This lemonade stand will be cooler than ever, offering snow cones and shaved ice with organic syrup in different lemonade flavors.  While the focus is to give back to young courageous children, as adults, it’s a welcome return to our childhood.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). At the age of 4, Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $25 million towards fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 100 research projects nationally.

Donations will be accepted at the CHALK4PEACE event benefiting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Additionally, if you’re cleaning out your closet this summer, please bring us your old shoes, clothing, and books that will be distributed by the Helping Others Worldwide foundation. They ship the items to needy orphanages and impoverished families in Sierra Leone, Africa. All young artists will be entertained by special live musical guests, solar DJ, yoga and crystal bowl healing by Gurutej. Water, chalk, treats and fun, fun, fun will be provided!

Books / Shoes / Clothing Drive

Hosted by iNDIGO PROjECT & HELPING OTHERS WORLDWIDE

LOS ANGELES, CA – iNDIGO PROjECT and HELPING OTHERS WORLDWIDE have partnered up to gather outgrown shoes, collect old clothes and pass along some retired novels.  All these items can be dropped off at our upcoming CHALK4PEACE EVENT along the Miracle Mile Art Walk on Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 3 – 7pm in the parking lot of the Bank of America, located at 466 N. La Brea Ave., Los Angeles, CA, 90036.

Helping Others Worldwide (HOW) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit dedicated to assisting people in need by distributing charitable donations throughout impoverished communities of the world. The donations collected at CHALK4PEACE will assist in fulfilling the basic requirements of our needy brothers and sisters in Sierra Leone, Africa.

These goods will be of immense benefit to the people who lack means to all basic necessities on a daily basis. There is not enough to go around and they are constantly scrapping for survival against many odds. When the founder of HOW traveled to Sierra Leone, he literally handed out all of his clothes from his backpack to people on the streets, whose clothes were disintegrating from wearing them every day.

The event will also include a Lemonade stand hosted by Penmen Elite with donations benefiting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation that seeks to find cures for cancer in children.  We will be entertaining all young chalkers with special live musical guests, local artists, yoga and crystal bowl healing by Gurutej.
